Our booth at the annual Norwegian Quilt Association meeting

The last few weeks I have been super busy getting everything ready for our booth at the annual meet
of the Norwegian Quilt Association. This was our 10th time bringing the shop, and it was fun as always!  I had the flu the week prior to the meet- so I didn't get to do everything I had planned- but I was very happy to be back on my feet and well in time for the weekend!

It is always fun to meet all the lovely Norwegian quilters!

This is our little booth...

A close up of one of the corners.  I loved making the pillow with the Brimfield block, those Cotton + Steel fabrics are so much fun!  And I adore my"Dwight the Deer pillow"  I made it last year, but it had to come along this year as well...

We have run the "Beyond the Porch" BOM at the shop ( from the Birdhouse patchwork designs), and I decided to use a FQ bundle of Denyse Schmidt fabrics for mine (we ran out of kits at the shop so I had to "shop my stash....") This line is called Winter Walk.  I really enjoyed making this quilt, and I had it quilted by Merete Ellingsen ( She quilts all of my large quilts!)

Another view from our booth :-)

And here is the last corner.... Country Revival quilt on the left, from Sew kind of Wonderful, then Mod Pineapples. also from Sew Kind of Wonderful, then Sweet Tooth in the corner, by Jaybird Quilts, and finally Pineapple Farm by Elizabeth Hartman

Quilting Cafè

This week we have the annual town fair here in Tynset, so last night the shop teamed up with the bakery down the street and hosted a quilting Cafè.  37 quilters from far and near showed up, and we had a lovely time sewing, chatting, eating and drinking coffee.

It was a lot of fun :-)

After we were done at the bakery we had a special sale at our shop for the ladies. As you can see it got a bit crowded :-) I really think we need to do this again next year!  Always a lot of fun to bring quilters together!

This was my project for the evening- Sue Daley's Quatro Colour Quilt.  I am just getting started ( this is my first block....) so it will take a while before it is finished....

My thoughts today are with family and friends on Florida's Space Coast and in Orlando.  I really wish I could zap them all over here to safety as Hurricane Matthew is getting closer and closer to them, and will hit the Barrier Island area today.  This picture is from Cocoa Beach a couple of years ago, now I am afraid to see the damage this monster of a hurricane will do there :-(
Stay safe my friends!!

A little bit of everything....

I am staying very busy, which is good.... After we moved our shop, my husband started a big change at his shop (Yes, we have a shop each...LOL) Well, not anymore- My husband sold his shop to a chain of hardware stores called "Tools", so his shop has gone through a major change.  Today was their opening day of the new shop, and eventually I am looking forward to have him a little more at home, and a little less at work....( but that might take a while...) He still runs she shop, but now someone else does all the paperwork.
In the picture above I have just made a small table topper using a mini charm pack by Brenda Riddle.  At her class early this summer she gave each of us a mini charm pack of her upcoming fabric line which is just adorable!

I have made progress on my candle mat as well.  I am loving everything about wool appliqué!!  I see more of this in my future ( especially since I have a large kit bought at Quilt Market last year)

The bag class at the shop is finished, and I am very impressed with all the ladies, they made such beautiful bags! I am teaching the same class in Røros in November ( a weekend class)

Yesterday I started a new project using the Basix ruler.  The pattern is called "Pick me", and I suggest to any of you who are thinking about making this- Check their website for updates on the pattern! Quite a few errors there which was very frustrating, But I am determined to make it work. ( I checked for updates a little too late...) I will share more pictures as i get the blocks sewn together. It really is a cute quilt!

And last but not least- Stars for the "Edelsten" BOM.  I am all caught up on this one- wonder how on earth I managed that LOL.
Off to the sewing room to battle those Basix blocks.... Wish me luck!

On the move

Hello again- sorry I've been gone for a while.  We have been moving the shop- and it has been a few weeks of painting, packing and moving...

We did know we had a bunch of stuff to move- so we moved the quilting part of the shop first- The "Lappemor" department.  We were lucky to have great helpers from the quilt guild help carry all the bolts of fabric downstairs...

Here are some of the bolts- ready to be carried downstairs....

Then I needed to figure out where to put everything.... It took a few evenings and days!

Yesterday was our first day at the new location, and even if we're not quite finished with everything, we are thrilled to have our "new" shop open.

This is the Lappemor part of the shop, and we also have all our bunad fabrics here. A Bunad is the traditional costume in Norway, and every area has a different Bunad.

So now you know what I have been doing the last few weeks....

January bag

I just wanted to show you my "January bag" today.  At Quilt Market in Houston last October we got a lot of great bag patterns, so we decided to have a "Bag of the month" club at the shop. Sewing together is just so much fun, and since the patterns are in English we can help each other if there is something we don't understand....
The January bag is by designer Sara Lawson of "Sew Sweetness".  She makes wonderful bag patterns, and they are super easy to understand!  The pattern we chose was "the Byebye love bag"
You can make this bag in two different sizes, and this is the larger one- and my favorite bag at the moment! ( I made one large one and two small ones....)
So many wonderful bags were made in January, It is so great to see how different they all came out just by using different fabrics!
Tuesday is our first February bag club meeting, and I will show you the february bag later. ( Yes I already made one...)

A great quilting weekend!

This weekend was the best!  The shop arranged a weekend class with super awesome AnnAKa!  She is such a wonderful designer, and a super teacher!  The class was all sewing/stitching by hand, so no sewing machines required!  The first two pictures shows her model that we learned to sew.  Lots of different hand sewing techniques makes it a lot of fun to make!
This is the inside of the folder.  Lots of pockets to keep our projects and stuff in!

16 ladies ( including my business partner Karin and me) enjoyed the weekend at "Telstad" which is an old farm turned into a great course location!

Lots of smiles and laughter during the class!  Ann is standing between my mom (on the left) and my aunt ( my moms' sister).  I love having both my mom and aunt share the passion for quilting with me!

8 ladies stayed at Telstad from Friday- Sunday, and we had a lot of fun in the evenings after dinner....

Sunday afternoon was the end of class, here are all the very talented and lovely ladies with some of the pieces they had worked on.  I really look forward to seeing all the stitchery folders finished!
I guess I should get off the computer and work on mine....
Thanks for stopping by!

The Norwegian Quilt Festival

The first Norwegiamn Quilt Festival took place just outside Oslo this past weekend.  We've been so busy the last couple of months getting everything ready for our booth there, it was almost unreal when the day arrived when we loaded two BIG cars with all our stuff and headed south.
We were pretty busy the whole weekend, so I am sorry I don't have a lot of pictures to show you, but I've seen a few other Norwegian bloggers have lots to show!

Our booth was small but we did get a LOT of fabrics and patterns in there... And samples of course.  We are very lucky to have some talented ladies that help us make samples.

We had a corner booth, which is really nice, here is the view from the other side.

And a different view again....

A little close up.... Some fresh fabric there!
And look who stopped by our booth.....Camille Roskelley! She spotted my Swoon quilt and came in to take pictures.  We had two other samples from her patterns as well, so it was really nice to meet her, she is so sweet!  She taught four classes at the festival so she was pretty busy.  There were a lot of great teachers there, so I would have loved to take a class or two!
My daughter Kristine studies at the University of Oslo, so she came and helped us out as well.  It was really nice to spend a couple of days with her :-)
Well, that was just a little peak at what I've been up to, tonight I've actually been sewing a bit again- Yeey!
Take care, and thanks for stopping by!

Layer cake fun!

I have finished the "Layer Cake mix" set, from AnnAKa's pattern.  This was fun to sew, with a bit of hand appliquè, and easy sewing.

The whole set consists of a large and a small table runner, a square tabletopper, potholders and a cute little bag :-)

Not sure if I will use this as a sewing notions bag or a make-up bag yet.  I really don't wear make-up very often, so it will probably end up holding needles and thread...lol.
So that was one project finished, yeey!  In a month the new Norwegian Quilt Festival will take place right outside Oslo, and we will have a booth there with our shop- so  there are so many new samples I want to sew.... We are very fortunate to have some extremely nice ladies in the quiltguild to help us out though, which I am so thankful for!  I am really excited about the Festival, some really great designers will be there to teach classes, so I am sure we'll have a ball!
Off to the sewingroom for an hour before I head to work!
Thank you for stopping by, have a super day!

Odds and ends...

I was taking a few pictures around our shop today, and I realized I hadn't shown you this Lemoyne star quilt all finished.  It's hanging in the shop for a while now :-)  The fabrics are all from Lynette Anderson's line "Follow my Heart"

While I'm at it I thought I'd show you a couple of more pictures from the shop... These days we're busy getting ready for the Norwegian Quilt Association's annual meet in Kristiansand.  We are bringing the shop, so there are a lot of samples to sew and fabrics to cut... Lots of fun!
This is one of our pattern areas. We LOVE quilt patterns.....!!!!

And some new lovely Canvas fabrics- perfect for bags!

This is the main area of the shop, where we have clothes, jewelry, yarn, tablelinens, gifts and all the other fun stuff. I love all of it and enjoy every single day at work!
Thank you for stopping by :-)
