Our booth at the annual Norwegian Quilt Association meeting

The last few weeks I have been super busy getting everything ready for our booth at the annual meet

of the Norwegian Quilt Association. This was our 10th time bringing the shop, and it was fun as always!  I had the flu the week prior to the meet- so I didn't get to do everything I had planned- but I was very happy to be back on my feet and well in time for the weekend!

It is always fun to meet all the lovely Norwegian quilters!

A close up of one of the corners.  I loved making the pillow with the Brimfield block, those Cotton + Steel fabrics are so much fun!  And I adore my"Dwight the Deer pillow"  I made it last year, but it had to come along this year as well...

We have run the "Beyond the Porch" BOM at the shop ( from the Birdhouse patchwork designs), and I decided to use a FQ bundle of Denyse Schmidt fabrics for mine (we ran out of kits at the shop so I had to "shop my stash....") This line is called Winter Walk.  I really enjoyed making this quilt, and I had it quilted by Merete Ellingsen ( She quilts all of my large quilts!)

Octagon Shimmer quilt finished!

I am thrilled to finally have my Octagon Shimmer quilt finished!   It didn't take very long to make, and my quilter, Merete had it done in a flash- but it has been waiting for me to bind it for a couple of months now..... I finally found the time to get it done, and I am very happy with the result.  This was such a refreshing and fun quilt to make, so I might just make another one in different colors.  I can see a lot of options here.... First I need to finish up a few other WIP's though :-)

New year means finishing up a few projects...

We are a week into the new year, and I am trying to finish a few WIP's.  I made these dilly dally blocks a few months ago, and got sidetracked so I never got around to sew them together.  ( pattern by Camille Roskelley)

Now I finally got around to finish the quilt top, and it is hanging on the banister along with a few other tops who needs to be quilted....  I made fewer blocks than the pattern called for since I wanted a smaller quilt.  Not sure when I will get around to quilt it, but at least I am one step further...

Moving along, I had some binding to do on my Octagon Shimmer quilt, beautifully quilted by the talented Merete at Merete's quilteloft This is a big quilt, so I'll probably spend a couple of evenings in front of the TV finishing the binding.  Can't wait for it to be finished though, I really like this quilt, and it will look nice on our living room wall :-)

When we were on vacation in December I brought some hand sewing with me, and thought I'd get a lot done..... Well.... I didn't! So I have finished the applique on this first block, and need to start stitching the rest.  This is such a cute pattern by Natalie Bird of the Birdhouse  The pattern is called the Happy Stitcher and is super cute!

It feels good to be able to spend some time in my sewing room again.  Hope to finish up a few more WIP's, and as always I have plenty of new projects lined up....

A little bit of everything....

I am staying very busy, which is good.... After we moved our shop, my husband started a big change at his shop (Yes, we have a shop each...LOL) Well, not anymore- My husband sold his shop to a chain of hardware stores called "Tools", so his shop has gone through a major change.  Today was their opening day of the new shop, and eventually I am looking forward to have him a little more at home, and a little less at work....( but that might take a while...) He still runs she shop, but now someone else does all the paperwork.

In the picture above I have just made a small table topper using a mini charm pack by Brenda Riddle.  At her class early this summer she gave each of us a mini charm pack of her upcoming fabric line which is just adorable!

I have made progress on my candle mat as well.  I am loving everything about wool appliqué!!  I see more of this in my future ( especially since I have a large kit bought at Quilt Market last year)

The bag class at the shop is finished, and I am very impressed with all the ladies, they made such beautiful bags! I am teaching the same class in Røros in November ( a weekend class)

Yesterday I started a new project using the Basix ruler.  The pattern is called "Pick me", and I suggest to any of you who are thinking about making this- Check their website for updates on the pattern! Quite a few errors there which was very frustrating, But I am determined to make it work. ( I checked for updates a little too late...) I will share more pictures as i get the blocks sewn together. It really is a cute quilt!

And last but not least- Stars for the "Edelsten" BOM.  I am all caught up on this one- wonder how on earth I managed that LOL.

Off to the sewing room to battle those Basix blocks.... Wish me luck!

A few finishes

Today I will finally show you a few finished things here....  My lack of blog posts doesn't mean I don't quilt ( or knit)- it just means I have limited computer time....

My first finish in 2015 was this Marius jacket.  I knitted one in blue white and red in the fall, then I really wanted a grey one as well.... I used Sandnes Mini Alpakka yarn in this.

My Advent calendar was finished in early December. yeey!  I had my advent gifts hanging on it, so I waited with taking a photo until now.... The pattern is by AnnAKa, and was a BOM.

I think I showed you this table topper when I was working on it.  Fun fabrics by Lynette Anderson, and a really neat ruler called the Basix ( x- blocks)

This was a UFO from 2013 I think... Again a pattern by AnnAKa, but it was supposed to be a table runner with two identical stitcheries..... I decided we needed a wall hanging more than another Christmas runner.....LOL ( saved me lots of stitching....) It felt great to get this one finished!!

This weekend I pulled out my pieces from the AnnAKa class we had at the shop in October..... Ola (mr. 15) and I have been "home alone", and he really doesn't want to hang out with Mom anymore, so I have had plenty of sewing time, even if I worked Saturday... My goal is to have this finished before I go to bed tonight- so I better get back to the sewing room now....

Weekend sewing

As promised- here is my weekend sewing :-)  A new toiletry bag from a new Bente Malm pattern. It's not finished yet- I still have to make the lining and zipper closure. You can see the pattern here. It's a great size, and the pattern also includes an adorable makeup bag, so I might just have to make that one as well...  Another bag I REALLY want to make is the Ultimate Camera Bag from Serendipity Studio.  I've had the booklet with the pattern for a couple of years now I think, but it looks a bit complicated so I have just put it off....  Anyone else out there who has made it?  The booklet is called "Media Frenzy"

I don't think I have posted this wallhanging yet, at least not finished!  I did notice the other day though I forgot to add three buttons at the bottom.... But they can be added later!  For those of you who doens't understand Norwegian, it says:

"This place is clean enough to keep you healthy and messy enough to keep you happy!"

It fits our house perfectly!

I'm sewing!

It was very nice to get home to my sewingroom after our vacation!  There are so many projects I want to sew at the moment, so I started two last week... ( well one last week and one this week...)  I need some handsewing to bring to the shop with me during the day, then I can spend some time in my sewingroom in the evenings ( although I really should be outside and enjoy our lovely summer weather....)

This is from the project I started this week.  A tabletopper from the Chantilly pattern from "Sew Emma".  We have the pattern at the shop, so I wanted to make a sample for the big Quiltfestival at Gardermoen in September.  We have a booth there, so I'll be busy sewing samples for the next couple of months- I LOVE my job!!

Here is the top finished, now I need to decide how to quilt it....

I also finished a tablerunner and a small tablemat which need to be quilted.  So guess what I am doing this weekend....  At least I hope to get them basted.

Almost finished...

My stars have been sewn together! Now I really need to decide how to quilt it....

I have also finished the fist little block of " A quilter's Christmas Calendar" by AnnAKa.  We have this at the shop as a club, and our next meeting is on Tuesday, so I better get going on the next block(s)

Every once in a while I show you the view from my sewingroom, and this was my view a few days ago when it was really cold. The good part about cold weather is at least we have a blue sky!

Tomorrow Ola and I are heading to Trondheim for the day.  He has an orthodonist appointment there, so I am sure we'll have a nice day shopping after he's done there :-)  He has already decided on TGIF fo lunch, so that should be nice.  Now I'm heading upstairs- not to my sewingroom, but to our excercise room to burn those TGIF calories in advance....LOL.

Snowmen

My snowman quilt is finally quilted and finished!  I am really happy with how it turned out :-)

Keeping with the snowman theme I made a placemat from a new Bente Malm pattern.  It was quick and fun to sew!  It seems like I have a thing for snowmen... I just love them!!!! They are adorable :-)  I really hope we'll get some more snow here soon so we can make some real snowmen in our yard before Christmas!

Talking about Christmas.... It is THAT time of year again.... time to get those SSCS gifts sent off to their destinations.  Mine was mailed out on Thusday, and I hope it reaches it's new home in time for Christmas!

Our BOM club is finished!

 We had a BOM club at the shop this year, and this past week was our last club night.  Look at all the pretty quilts these talented ladies have sewn this year! The patterns we used were "Abigail's sampler quilt" and Barbara Jean's sampler quilt" by Lori Smith. Her patterns are so well written and easy to understand, and we had a blast sewing our quilts! ( one lady unfortunately could not make it on our last meet, so there is one more quilt to show later)

All the quilts folded and in a pile.

Here is my finished quilt.  I used a fat quarter bundle I bought at Sample spree in Houston 4 years ago.... About time it got used!  

It feels so good to have another project finished!

A finish!

I finished one of my WISP/ UFO's yeey! I love these cute little snowmen... The pattern is from Turnberry Lane :-)

I finished sewing my wonky houses together, now I need to figure out how I would like to quilt it... Any suggestions?

Tonight I am working on another UFO- AnnAKa's " Blue Advent"  Hopefully it will be done in time for Advent this year..... I have finished the two stitcheries that go on the ends of the runner, so I just have the snowball blocks left to sew.

Back to the sewingmachine!
