A whole month??

A month since my last post??? Time sure flies!  I've been busy at work getting ready for the Norwegian Quilt Festival which will take place this Thursday- Sunday.  We'll have a booth there, and there is so much to think about and do to get everything ready.... Fun work though :-)

At our quilt guild we have a summer challenge every year, and this year the theme was " Something we need for a sewing night"  As usual I procrastinated until the last weekend before it was due to be shown to make anything.... So I decided to make a thread catcher (from the book Red Home by Natalie Bird) and a small pincushion.  Most of my pincushions are so "fat" my sewingneedles drown in them....

Between all the sample sewing for Festival I managed to make myself a new knitting needle keeper.  LOVE the sheep fabric!

I keep my bamboo and wood knitting needles in this one.  Still missing a few sizes I see...

In the mornings and late evenings I have been knitting myself a new sweater.... Lovely silk mohair yarn by Sandnes!  It should be finished in time for Fall!  Just the last sleeve left to knit now.

My scrappy blocks

Look, I made more scrappy trip around the world blocks.....  These are soooo addictive!  Now I want to make these in every color combination I can imagine ( but of course I won't.... Not enough time....)  I am making four more blocks for this quilt, and adding a border, and it will be a great quilt for the couch.  Now I will need to make matching pillows- and maybe a new table runner as well.....

And I finished my bug bag, and the little bag for my "sewing bits 'n bobs".  These two have been living at the shop for a couple of weeks, but now the pattern is sold out, so I brought them home yesterday.  I am looking forward to using them both at our quilt meeting in Fjellquilten on Tuesday.

Today I hope to do a bit of sewing.  The Norwegian Quilt Association's annual meeting and show is coming up in March, and our shop will have a booth there, so I have lots of samples to make.... It's just us girls at home this weekend though, Svein and the boys are away on ski races until tomorrow night, so I won't feel bad if I sew ALL DAY.  Kristine is sleeping in, then she'll be reading and knitting the rest of the day I think...  Yesterday her class was in Trondheim at big "Education Fair" where all the major universities and colleges were represented.  She has already decided on the University of Oslo, but brought home a lot of catalogs, so  I guess she'll be reading about a few other schools as well, and see if she wants to change her "Plan B".

sewing weather....

Due to our wonderful rainy summer, there has been a bit of sewing.... 

I finished this tablerunner in black and white,

And this larger one with a touch of red...  I used the X-block ruler to make the blocks- fun and easy!

Then I made some pencil cases, here are two of them.

I set up a little shop at epla- the norwegian etsy, to see if I can sell some of the things I make.  My house is really filling up, and it would be fun to sell a few things as well :-)

 A couple of weeks ago these sheep came to visit....

I think they were supposed to be waaay up in the mountains behind us, but I guess they liked coming down for a visit.

BOM progress

I am inspired by Sinta's BOM Rehab, and finally I dug out the finishing kit for the FQS 2009 designer mystery BOM..... Here you see the star which will be the center  of the quilt.  The 12 blocks from the BOM will surround this rather large center star.

More pieces are cut out...... I better get back to the sewingroom.....

Summer projects finished!

Did you guess what I was making in my last post?  It was a skirt for summer- now if the sun would just show up I might get a chance to get a bit of a tan.... 

Here is a close up of the bag.  The pattern is "Mathilde's summebag" by AnnAKa (Norwegian pattern).

Tonight I made a little wallet to match the bag- just have to add the closure, and I'll show you tomorrow!
