First I would like to introduce you all to a new blogger, Mariequilts. She found my blog through our High School reunion website, as I graduated from Merritt Island High School in the same class as her son. This summer will be our 20th reunion, and I can't wait to meet up with old friends again. Marie also has a wonderful website, The Blooming Quilters We plan to meet this summer and I am sure we'll have a wonderful time together! Please pop over and say hello.
This is my new "toy", I've actually had her for a couple of months, I just haven't had the time to learn how to use her. With "Truly Scrumptious" finished- I NEEDED to find out how she works so I can get rolling on finishing the quilt before Friday. I started out practicing on plain fabric, and it was FUN! Then I dug out this flimsy, I pieced the top last spring, and I thought it was about time to get it finished- so I loaded it on the frame and started quilting loops and flowers all over. It was still FUN, but my thread kept breaking- it must have broken a gazillion times- I should have known not to use the brand I did- because I've had problems with it before as well. I also think it is strange that the take up roll rolls in the direction you see in the picture- it leaves the quilt higher up than I would like it to be. I think I will try and change it's direction next time, and see if that makes it easier.
This little guy came to have breakfast yesterday. All the sudden he was standing on the table outside our window looking in. He was just so cute, but he did scare all the birds away, so I hope he doesn't come back. I love watching all the birds that come to out birdfeeder outside the kitchen every morning.
Have a wonderful day!
What a pretty quilt! I can understand why you were so eager to get it quilted. Can't help you with the thread problem or the take up roll problem, though. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty quilt! I'm envious of your new machine.
ReplyDeleteWow, a quilting machine! I hope you will solve the thread and take up roll problem soon. Have fun, I will just be envious!
ReplyDeleteGreat machine and great quilt. When thread keeps breaking on my longarm I know it is probably way too tight tension or not the proper weight of thread. It can be really really frustrating! I hope you have better luck next time.
ReplyDeleteWohoo! What a cool new toy!! And great quilt! Now you just have to get Truly Scrumptious done by Friday :o) I look forward to seeing it! -and you!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteOh, I can sympathize with the trials and challenges of a new toy. And yet, I shall persevere and I know you will too! Your results are pretty, well done! I recall these squirrels from when we lived in Geneva, I'd forgotten about them until I saw the photo, they look different from their U.S. cousins.
ReplyDeleteThank you my special friend for putting me in your blog. This summer when you get here we will take time to go to all the shoppes around our county, they are so neat. I bought 25 fq's and my friend Carolyn got 25. today we worked on sunbonnett Sue , and of course had our usual laughter time.Looking at your set up with the machine I think if you will pin the fron pieces on the underside of the canavan and then roll towards the back then they will be right. I wish I could help you. I well remember getting my big machine and i was having fits with it. i use 40 wt in my machine mostly and i tis great. if you use two different colors (top and bobbin) you have to do alot of tension adjustment. We can play on mine when you come overBut meanwhile try pinning the stuffon different. if you send me your phone number I can talk you trough it when you are at the machine. Thanks so much again. Hugs,, Marie
ReplyDeleteThe quilting looks great! Ms. Goodneedle has a new toy also. The two of you need to compare notes. Happy stitching.
ReplyDeleteI have to comment about that squirrel -because he looks JUST like the ones we have in Austria!! In USA we have big fat gray squirrels with white tummys. Glad to hear that you are having fun with your new friend - and your 1st quilting piece turned out really nice!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a quilting set-up, but I did read somewhere that if you have a thread that tends to break - if you put it in the freezer first - it helps???
Cheers!
Evelyn
I love the quilt, very cheerful!! The squirrel is too funny...not like any squirrel that we have here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun new toy! Looks like you learned how to use it already. Great work on the quilt...it's so cute! I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteYour squirrel friend is adorable. Our squirrels don't have such furry ears. I like the fuzzy ears!! :)
That is a great toy and the quilt looks great
ReplyDeleteWow, pretty quilt! Love your colors. Too bad about the thread breakage...frustrating huh?
ReplyDeleteLove your new toy and that great quilt. I am sure you will get some help with the thread problem from someone here on the blogs!! Great picture of that little guy.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne Heidi,
ReplyDeleteYou have been tagged by me. Check out my post for the rules.
Found your blog through Jackie's at Canton Village. Wow...a quilting machine...cool! You'll have lots of fun learning to use it. Love your work. I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and oh now neat to have a quilting machine. I love your blog too.
ReplyDeleteHei
ReplyDeleteTakk for sist! Det var så hyggelig å treffe deg og mamma'n din med det flotte navnet:-)). Gratulerer med ny quiltemaskin og ramme. Si meg en ting har døgnet ditt flere timer enn mitt? Hvordan rekker du alt?
I love that squirrels ears- very dramatic :) We have gray squirrels here- fat and happy gray squirrels. And rather cheeky too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Quilt!
ReplyDeleteKind regards
