Sigve's first project
Sigve is ten years old and going into 5th grade in August. He decided he needed a new pencil case, and wanted to make it himself, so last week he and I were up early to work on his project (meaning we were sewing at 7.30 AM). He did a great job, the only things he let me help him with was the zig-zag around the applique, and the last seam on the zipper. He has now filled it with pencils, and he's ready for school to start again (well, not really LOL)
I've finished another bag- this time I made the "By-veska" (Town bag) by AnnAKa. I used the Cinderberry Stitches stitchery for the front of the bag, and two hearts from Leanne's book "Living the Dream" on the other side. This was a fun bag to make, it has lots of inside pockets, and it is the perfect size! I would love to make a few of this one, but first I need to finish up some UFO's. I thing they are playing a trick on me, multiplying themselves while I'm not watching... There are just so many quilts I want to make, and not enough time it seems...but oh, does it feel great to finish a project that's been laying around unfinished (or barely started) for a while.
Have a wonderful day everyone:)

Very nice pencil case. You have a future quilter on your hands. His choices of fabrics for the pillow case was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVery swish pencil case! I love the fabrics he chose. Cute bag too.
ReplyDeleteAh yes - we all suffer from the "so many quilts....not enough time" LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou son made a great pencil case. He will be only one in his class with such a special case. Good for him to make it himself.
I just got back from holiday and I am catching up on my blog reading. I will try to think of seven random things about me :))
He did a great thing on the pencilbag and your bag is beautifull too. You can send it here ;-)
ReplyDeleteMå si jeg er imponert over han som har sydd seg penalhus .
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pencil case! The bag is really lovely and I'm thrilled that you put the two hearts on it - looks great. Best wishes from Australia.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the pencil case maker!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I know how you are able to sew so many nice things: You start sewing at 7.30h!
That pencil case is soo cool! Your little man must be so proud of himself (and you of him *lol*)! And your bag is so charming! Really perfect for a romantic summer :o)
ReplyDeleteDu må hilse Sigve å si at penalhuset han har sydd er kjempe flott :-) Blir nok flittig brukt når skolen starter igjen om ikke så lenge.
ReplyDeleteBoth yours and Sigve's bags are great! He is very practical, it's such a useful item. I have searched and searched for the pattern by Rosalie Quinlan for the "MY THINGS" bag that you did earlier in the summer, with no luck. ;( Keep on encouraging your son with his skills, he should be so proud! My son learned to sew at my side when he was the same age as yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, both of you!!! But, I'm wondering...where are you finding all this SPARE TIME????!!! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool pencil case Sigve !
ReplyDeleteYour bag look great too.
I hope to be able to drop by your shop on Tuesday August 7. We will be on our way to Nordmøre then. Maybe we will meet ? :-)
The pencil case your son has made by himself looks very nice. Hope we can see more projects from him;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I like the stitchery on your bag.
All those UFO's and your son likes to sew .... have you thought about enlisting him to help you finish them? Sweet bag and cool pencil case.
