From Texas to Florida

Quilt Market was busy and fun as always, and this was one of my favorite quilts there! I see one of these being made in my near future.... ( pattern and fabric by Zen Chic for Moda)

After our busy days in Houston we headed to Orlando for some fun in the sun :-)  Breakfast with a view!  We rented a house so we had plenty of space, and our own pool, nice!  It was great to unwind and run around shopping.....

Of course we had to visit quilt shops!  This is Heartfelt quilting and sewing in Kissimmee.  They had a lovely shop and they were super nice!  Did I buy anything?  Well, yes of course I did... LOL

Here we are outside the quilt shop, Merete, Karin and me.

Of course I had to show them the beach- so we headed to Cocoa Beach for a few hours.  Lunch at the Cocoa Beach Pier was great!  We could eat, get sun and watch the surfers all at the same time.  The burger was awesome by the way!

Love the chairs on the pier, I'd like one just like this at home ( maybe in a different color though....)

After eating we headed don to the beach.  The water was great, not too cold at all even if it was November.  We managed a long walk on the beach as well.

Before we drove back to Orlando I had to take Merete and Karin to Ron Jon Surf Shop- Such a cool place, and check out their Christmas tree....

One of the goals for our Florida detour was the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend.  Merete and I ran Mickeys Holiday 5K through Disney's Animal Kingdom very early Friday morning ( 6.30AM) Lots of people and lots of fun!

And we even have the bling to prove we ran :-)
Thank you for joining me Merete, I had a blast!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Back home again!

Houston was a blast!  We had a great and busy few days there for quilt Market!  Of course we were all sewing superheroes while we were there....!

Wenche of Northern Quilts showed her new line for Moda, which will be released in 2017.   It is a really wonderful Christmas collection with roots in Norwegian traditions.  Wenche is such a great person and it is always lovely to meet her!  Can't wait to get her new line in the shop!

Another favorite is Heather Givans of Crimson Tate. I LOVE her coming fabric line "Literary" with Wyndham fabrics.  This whole fabric line will be in our shop in April- yeeey!  I really want to make the book quilt, isn't it great??

More fun stuff- Love the Quick Curve rulers and the QCR patterns- this strawberry quilt just screams summer to me!  Might just have to make that one as well....

If you have been to our shop you know I love Tim Holtz and his awesome eclectic elements fabrics.  They are just the coolest fabrics for making bags and purses, and I love the vintage feel and fun prints.  He always has such a fun booth with awesome details!
So how is everyone doing on their SSCS swap sewing??  I need to get off the computer and get sewing now- my suitcases are unpacked, and I am ready to sew!
Thank you for stopping by :-)

Quilt Market

At Quilt Market I finally go to meet Sherri in person.  We have "known" each other for years through blogging, and she was even my "Stitchers angel" in a swap many years ago.  The little zippered pouch she gave me in the swap holds all my knitting accessories!

Sherri and her daughter Chelsi had a brand new fabric line with Moda, and I just loved their booth!

Sherri has a lot of great patterns, and I was lucky to be able to buy a fat quarter pack at sample spree of the new "Valley" fabric line.

Yeey! I even got a mini charm pack- Thank you Sherri!  I have started making the blocks for "Hope Chest" which is the gorgeous quilt in the middle of the booth.
Thank you again Sherri- it was great meeting you in real life :-)

Schoolhouse

The first day in Houston I went to "Schoolhouse" where a lot of designers show what is new.  Tula Pink has a great new fabric line, and even new hardware- Awesome Tula Pink Scissors and a couple of other things.  I did order a bunch of her fabrics, and I can't wait for them to arrive at the shop!

Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness has a new book coming in December: Windy City bags.  Lots of great bags in the book, and I can't wait to get my hands on it!  We will definitely have this in the shop!
Schoolhouse with Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts is always fun. She developed the Hex 'n more and sidekick rulers, and has a lot of great patterns using these rulers.

Here's Julie!
Her new BOM "Sweet Tooth" will be released in January!
The last Schoolhouse picture I will share today is this one from Moda/ Martingale.  They were showing all the great rows from the new book "Moda All-Stars All in a row". Such a fun schoolhouse!
That't all for now, hope you enjoyed the pictures!

New projects :-)

I have unpacked my suitcases after my Houston trip, and this shelf now holds fabrics for new shop samples, fabrics that I bought "Just for fun" and a couple of kits ( also just for fun...) Now my intention is to use this fabric FIRST.... Before any of my older fabrics.....We'll see how that goes ;-)

For my first project in November I wanted to try new rulers we bought at Market.  We've had the X-block ruler at the shop for about 5 years I think, and now they have a new X- block ruler called "Basix" to use with jelly rolls (or 2,5" strips)

For this sample I had to use fabrics already at the shop, so I decided on Lynette Anderson's Christmas line ( along with a red from my stash....)

Look how easy this is... Sew the strips together, then align the marks on the ruler with your sewing lines and cut....

Voila! In no time you have a table topper!  This still needs borders though.....

At the quilt guild meeting last night I played with the mini basix ruler, which works with 1,5" strips... small and fun!

This little piece will turn into a mug rug I think, I just need to decide which motif to use on the side...
That's all I can show you for now... I have a bit of secret sewing going on as well for the SSCS.... Just a couple of weeks before we have to mail our gifts out now,   I am so excited!!!!I really hope my swap partner will like what I am making for her :-)
Well, I am off to the sewing room!

Quilt Market

We are home from Quilt Market!  What a great time we had this year!!  So many lovely booths to tempt us with all their lovely fabrics, patterns, books and everything else we just need to have...
Schoolhouse was fun!  A super busy day running around to many different presentations.  Kids Quilts from New Zeeland has a brand new fabric range coming out in February, and new patterns using their bright and cheery fabrics!  We fell in love with it all!

The Moda Schoolhouse was fun as always- here are the designers who had new fabric collections coming out in their pj's :-)  It was a Moda pyjama party!
I got to meet Gail again too, she had such a lovly booth, and of course we got some of her new patterns and her new Christmas book.

And one of our new pattern suppliers: Quilts remembered.  Looks like we had fun...!

Of course we had time to relax a little in the evenings...
I have a ton of pictures to go through, and I will post more in the coming days!
Thank you for stopping by!
